About me
My name is Jacky, and I'm a UX Designer with experience in UX Design, UX Research, and Software Development. As a lifelong learner, my passion for visual storytelling derives from my hope of creating better solutions for people to understand and interact with the world around them.

As a graduate of Carnegie Mellon and General Assembly, I am able to leverage my strong left-brain analytical skills and right-brain creative thinking to solve problems through every stage of my life.

My journey
In December 2014, I received my degree of the highly ranked Master of Information Systems Management from Carnegie Mellon University. For the Capstone Project, my team and I worked with U.S. Vote Foundation and created voting information widgets for the client’s Voter Account application.
I started working as a consultant at Ernst & Young (EY). During that time, I lead my design team in the first staff Digital UX Challenge. We designed a mobile app that helped team leaders gain visibility into teams’ morale, facilitate honest feedback and identify potential issues. It not only won us the second prize at the final presentation but also jump-started my passion for UX Design as my career.

I joined General Assembly's top-rated User Experience Design Immersive program after some time of freelancing. I learned invaluable skills from the top industry practitioners that enabled me to solve complex user problems. In addition to my well-rounded UX skills, I was also prepared to work cross-functionally with business stakeholders, product managers, and development teams.
At ProDeal, a tech startup in the commercial real estate industry, I was leading the user research and design tasks to improve the user experience of the software that was the winner of the Captivate 2019 Innovative Impact award. More specifically, I conducted user research and testing with key client stakeholders and translated insights into high-fidelity solutions for both its web app and iOS mobile app.

In late 2020, I joined Prudential to work on their internal expense optimization and reporting initiatives as a UX Designer and Researcher. Being a part of the multi-disciplinary agile teams, I lead the UX work for their enterprise ecosystem including usability testing, dashboard design, data visualization, and prototyping. Moreover, I served as the UX ambassador and lead the UX lunch & learns to evangelize the value of UX within the company.

Lately, I joined PwC as a UI/UX Designer to work with one of the largest HealthCare clients on their Mobile and Web Applications that reach millions of users each month. I have been partnering closely with various product teams, engineering, Legal, UX, and other cross-functional groups. More importantly, I have been designing the ADA-compliant user experience and interface and ensuring users enjoy the best online experience across digital channels.

My process
Design Process Overview:
My UX design process focuses on problem-solving and balancing the business objectives and the user needs. Although the strategies and methodologies vary from project to project, they may involve any or all of the following: conducting user interviews and business research; synthesizing data to discover patterns and insights; generating personas to guide design; ideating features and solutions based on research; designing, testing, and iterating to get a desirable and delightful prototype; and finally collaborating with developers and designers.

In the end, it's all about designing the right thing and designing it right.
